Our last jam of the summer is at the 2025 Eastside Neighborhood Garden Fall Harvest!
Eastside Neighborhood Garden Sept. 21, 2025 from 2 to 6 pm!!
Wooden Ships Band appearing in 2025 with 3 original members, Dave Knoerr on Guitar and vocals, Dean John Stanley, the man with 3 first names on keys, and Alfred Uzzardo on the Hofner Bass, and special newer bandmates John Pistone on guitar and harp, Aaron T. Mejia on Harp and Guitar or Drums, and Art Marroquin the Baptizer on the Ludwig drums featuring Laura Knoerr on the Shure SM58.
We have been playing for decades, well, at least since the early 70's together and have been in many different bands.
We played 2021 through 2024 Harvest Festival at the Eastside Neighborhood Garden in Elgin most recently. Great jams. Pics and some vid to come soon.
We love playing outdoor gigs and parties. Normally just a few jams a year.

At one of our recent rehearsals, our original leader JR thought, "Welp, it's time for a band name change". Our little 5 YO girl had put up a sign in the rehearsal space, "LIZZIE TOWN". JR asked her if it would be OK if we renamed our band "Lizzie Town". She and her brother campaigned during our rehearsal, and she marched around with her sign and said "Vote for me!" and her brother made a little sign and marched around with it saying f"Vote for me!" Needless to say, Lizzie town won and after 40 years, we are freshly reminted as The Lizzie Town Band.
Updating this info, JR decided to strike out solo so we are once again, The Wooden Ships Band sailing onward! Jon J and MF have sailed on home to Jesus but we have not yet shuffled off that mortal coil. It seems that we are like a good glass of brandy on deck while sailing on a warm summer breeze playing the best jam band tunes from the best years of rock and roll, the 1970s. Someone once said, "Play something famous" and we said, we don't know anything famous! See you at the jam! Don't forget to give us a buzz!
We all started jamming together and separately in 1972, and slowly refined our tastes. We are the Woodstock generation, dead heads, and more. We sometimes have been known to do Wooden Ships by CSNY for 15 minutes, but that's generally when we are jamming in our own place.
Truck Drivin Man, Tulsa Time, Willin', Steamroller Blues, Tangled Up

Our music blends rock, acoustic melodies, and electronic to create a unique sound. Our lyrics are personal and inspired by our own lives. We usually jam at our own places, once in a while invited to get in front of a live audience.
We've jammed quite a bit, and had a following years ago. Sign up for our newsletter below as we remain just friends, doing an occasional performance here and there if everything works out. We're a non-working but love to play group of guys and we value friendships more than the rigors of a working band kind of deal. So if you are patient with us, let us know if you have a need for some old hippies jamming Dylan, The Band, Waylon Jennings, James Taylor and many more and we will keep you updated once in a while, God willing!
